How counselling can help

People come for all sorts of reasons, and you don't need to have it neatly worded before you get in touch. These are some of the things we might work on together.

Anxiety & overwhelm

Find calm, manage worry and feel more in control.

When your mind is racing it can be hard to tell what genuinely needs your attention and what is just noise. We can slow things down and look at what tends to set the worry off, what you already do that helps, and what quietly makes it harder.

There is no pressure to arrive with it all worked out. We go at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Life transitions

Navigate change, uncertainty and new beginnings.

Moving city, changing work, becoming a parent, leaving a relationship, finishing study: even changes you have chosen can leave you unsteady for a while. This is a place to talk it through without having to sound certain about any of it.

We can look at what you are leaving behind, what you want to carry with you, and what this next part is actually asking of you.

Relationships

Improve communication, set boundaries and connect more meaningfully.

This might be about a partner, your family, friendships, or the people you work with. We can look at the patterns that keep repeating, the things you find hardest to say, and what tends to happen when you do say them.

It is also a space to think about what you want from the people close to you, and what feels fair to give.

Self-understanding

Deepen self-awareness and build a stronger sense of who you are.

Sometimes it is less about a problem to solve and more about wanting to understand yourself better. We can look at where your habits and expectations came from, what you actually value, and where you might be living by someone else's rules.

Knowing that tends to make choices clearer, including the difficult ones.

Fees

Clear from the start, so cost is one less thing to wonder about.

Common questions

What happens in the first session?

Mostly, we talk. I'll ask what brought you in, what has been going on and what you'd like to be different. There's nothing you need to prepare, and you can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with.

By the end we'll have a sense of whether we're a good fit and what working together might look like.

How long is each appointment?

Each session runs for [session length in minutes]. Appointments are usually [weekly? fortnightly? confirm typical spacing], though we can adjust that to suit you.

Is counselling right for me?

You don't need to be in crisis, and you don't need a diagnosis. Plenty of people come because something feels off and they'd like to understand it better.

If you're unsure, get in touch and we can talk it through first. If counselling isn't the right fit, I'll say so and help you think about other options.

Do you offer online appointments?

Yes. Sessions are available online as well as in person, so you can keep things going if you're travelling, unwell or simply have a week where getting across town isn't realistic.

Online sessions run on [which platform? Zoom, phone, other].

Where are in-person sessions held?

In-person sessions are in Sydney, at [practice address or suburb]. Details on parking and public transport: [nearest station, parking notes].
